BOTOX® Cosmetic in Phoenix, AZ

While aging, gravity, and sun damage are the causes of most wrinkles, other lines develop as a response to years of facial expressions. BOTOX® Cosmetic treats the signs of aging that are caused by repeated facial movements. This non-surgical injectable treatment interferes with muscle contractions so that men and women can enjoy tighter, smoother, and more youthful skin.

What BOTOX® Cosmetic Can Achieve

Wrinkle Reduction

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a neuromodulator that is derived from botulinum toxin type A. It eliminates signs of aging on the middle and upper regions of the face, such as crow’s feet and frown, forehead, and mouth lines. The formation of these wrinkles can prematurely age your appearance and affect your ability to express a full range of emotions.

Fewer Headaches

While it is more commonly used for anti-aging purposes, BOTOX® was initially developed as a treatment for chronic migraine patients (those suffering from at least 15 headache days per month). BOTOX® is injected near nerves to block the release of chemicals involved in pain transmission. This prevents the development of headaches.

Changes in Facial Contour

Aging does not only create unwanted lines and wrinkles; it also affects the overall shape and contour of the face. In addition to smoothing lines on the upper face, BOTOX® Cosmetic can lift the tip of the nose (by injecting the product into the nasalis muscle), soften the angle of the jaw, reduce neck banding (by injecting the product into the platysmal bands), and lift the upper lip.

BOTOX® Cosmetic Procedure

Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Boll will examine the current condition of your facial aging to determine the best approach for your BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.

Process

BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a dermal filler; instead, it is a neurotoxin that reduces fine lines and wrinkles by blocking chemical signals and preventing muscle contraction.

A topical anesthetic is applied before injections are made around the treatment area to relax the facial muscles and inhibit their ability to form unwanted lines and wrinkles.

BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are performed in under an hour by Dr. Boll.

Alternative Treatments

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most well-known neuromodulator; however, it is not the only one available. Dysport® works the same way as BOTOX® Cosmetic and is appropriate for the reduction of frown lines.

Concerns

Recovery

BOTOX® Cosmetic requires no downtime, and patients can return to work and their regular activities immediately following their injections. Patients should refrain from strenuous activity, including going to the gym, for at least 24 hours to reduce the risk of headaches. Your BOTOX® Cosmetic results should start to appear within 24 to 48 hours and will continue to improve over the following weeks to reveal smoother, more youthful skin.

Scars

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical treatment that requires no incisions. Therefore, there will be no scars following a session.

Cost

The cost of your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment will depend on the amount of the product used. BOTOX® Cosmetic is measured in units, and Dr. Boll will determine the number of units required during your consultation.

Pain

BOTOX® Cosmetic patients may experience redness, swelling, and numbness at the injection site that may persist for several hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Candidates for BOTOX ® Cosmetic are unhappy with the appearance of their moderate to severe fine lines and wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contractions. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age with noticeable:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Neck bands
  • Smoker’s lines (or other lip wrinkles)

Is BOTOX® Cosmetic an alternative to a brow lift or eyelid lift surgery?

BOTOX® Cosmetic may be an appropriate alternative to cosmetic surgery for qualifying patients. BOTOX® Cosmetic treats moderate to severe fine lines and wrinkles on the upper portion of the face; however, it cannot address severe skin laxity or alter the appearance of fat pockets above or below the eyes.

Can BOTOX® Cosmetic treat excessive sweating?

While not as popular as wrinkle-reduction or migraine treatment, excessive underarm sweating can also be addressed with BOTOX®. BOTOX® injections block the nerves that activate the sweat glands, and therefore, your body is unable to produce sweat in the treatment area.

How long does BOTOX® Cosmetic last?

BOTOX® Cosmetic, like other injectable treatments, offers temporary relief from fine lines, wrinkles, or non-cosmetic conditions like chronic migraines. The lines and wrinkles are likely to return over the following three to six months. Most patients receive BOTOX® Cosmetic injections every three to six months to maintain smooth and youthful contours. Results tend to last longer after a series of BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments.
