Submental Liposuction in in Phoenix, AZ
Most of us want to feel completely confident in our appearance so it does not cause unnecessary stress in our everyday lives. Yet this can be difficult to achieve, especially when insecurities such as excess submental fat develop, creating the appearance of a double chin. Many people dislike having a double chin and may try several diet and exercise methods to attempt to remove it naturally. However, fat that accumulates under the chin tends to be very stubborn and resistant to weight loss methods. Fortunately, submental liposuction provides a long-lasting and transformative solution for those wanting to eliminate a double chin.
What Is Submental Liposuction?
Submental liposuction refers to liposuction techniques being used underneath the chin to remove submental fat. Sometimes called chin liposuction, this surgical procedure permanently removes fat cells from under the chin, eliminating the appearance of a double chin.
Dr. Jennifer Boll performs submental liposuction in Phoenix, AZ, to help patients regain confidence in their appearance.
Submental Liposuction Benefits
With submental liposuction, fat is suctioned out of the region, creating a more slender and defined facial profile. Many patients who have struggled to lose submental fat without success find much emotional relief with this procedure, as well as aesthetic results that they feel confident showing off.
Some of the benefits of submental liposuction may include:
- Permanently removing submental fat
- Eliminating a double chin
- Creating a more defined jaw and neck
- Increasing confidence in your facial profile
- Feeling comfortable with having your picture taken from different angles

How Is Submental Liposuction Performed?
Before your surgery begins, Dr. Boll will review your surgical treatment plan with you once again to ensure that you are both on the same page. After this is done, you will be given anesthesia to manage discomfort during surgery. Next, Dr. Boll will create small incisions underneath the chin, allowing for a cannula (thin hollow tube) to be inserted. The cannula will be used to loosen the underlying submental fat; then, a vacuum device will be attached to the tube to suction the fat out of the region. Once the desired fat has been removed, the incisions will be closed.
After Your Submental Liposuction
Downtime
After your submental liposuction surgery, you can expect the treatment area to be swollen for some time. The area will be sore, and you may experience some mild discomfort, which can be managed with prescription medications. You’ll be instructed to avoid physically strenuous activities for three to four weeks. A compression head wrap will need to be worn to reduce swelling and assist your chin in conforming to its new contours.
Results
Once the swelling completely subsides, you’ll be able to see the full extent of your results. You can enjoy showing off your more slender and defined chin and feel comfortable and confident in your appearance. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from the treated area, but it is still possible to gain fat in other areas. Maintaining a stable weight is highly recommended to keep your results looking their best for many years to come.
How Much Does Submental Liposuction Cost?
Since your submental liposuction procedure will be customized to address your specific needs, the cost will reflect this and vary from patient to patient. On top of the surgeon’s fee for the procedure, you’ll also need to account for additional costs such as surgery center fees, anesthesia fees, medical tests, compression head wraps, and pain medications. You will receive a price quote during your consultation with Dr. Boll to give you a clearer idea of what price to expect.
